British American Tobacco Zambia has an exciting opportunity for a Production Maintenance Technician in Lusaka

 

As a Production Maintenance Technician your responsibility is to lead (providing guidance and expertise) the technical team during maintenance and also to do some training/coaching on Technical Operators. You will be expected to provide leadership in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and planning and resource allocation for maintenance.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure alignment to production schedules/plans to ensure all products are produced according to the production plan, as well as ensuring all machines are safe to operate and accurately maintained.
  • Take the Lead in Cost Control through optimum spares usage and downtime reduction.
  • Leadership: Lead the team in the delivery of 90 Day Plans, lead Shift/Line DDS,  provide task teams with all information and guidance they need to complete assigned projects, proactively create opportunities for development and growth for all trainees and technical operators through coaching and clear/constructive/timely feedback, actively participate and lead (where applicable) IWS activities and initiatives through others in order to contribute to the team success.
  • Coordinate with Technical Operators and Technical Executives to ensure smooth start-ups, services restarting after power interruptions, as well as coordinating with Technical Operators, IWS team leaders, QA team, Shift leads & Maintenance leads to minimise and eliminate machine downtime, faults, machine defects and eliminate quality defects.
  • Champion IWS by proposing and implementing agreed changes and improvements that deliver better productivity, higher efficiency and improved safety.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proven experience working in a factory setting in a similar position in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Operator with demonstrated Preventive Maintenance skills and ability and able to competently carry-out machine overhauls on at least a Protos or GD or KDF in SMD including service and utility equipment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are vital to effectively work in a team and communicate with the team members, managers and other stakeholders from other sections/departments.
  •  Able to work in the IWS environment.
